Position Summary: Software Engineer I  Java Developer

As a Software Engineer I, you’ll work in the Consumer Data Management (CDM) Team, which enables real-time, secure communications across Mastercard’s internal programs and services. This position involves hands-on backend development using Java and microservice architecture, contributing to systems that support Mastercard's global offerings.

Key Responsibilities :

• Develop and enhance high-performance, low-latency Java-based microservices for the Consumer Data Management platform.

• Collaborate with Product Owners, Technical Leads, and other developers to define requirements, implement features, and optimize performance.

• Write clean, efficient code aligned with Mastercard’s engineering standards.

• Participate in Agile SCRUM ceremonies; support team delivery and sprint goals.

• Engage in code reviews, prototyping, and Proof-of-Concept (POC) exercises.

• Maintain a focus on testability and automation to ensure high-quality code.

• Research and apply new tools, technologies, and best practices as needed.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills :

• Strong Java programming skills with exposure to microservices architecture.

• Experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and writing unit tests (JUnit).

• Familiarity with both SQL and NoSQL databases such as Postgres, MongoDB, and Redis.

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, Maven, or Chef.

Bonus skills include:

• Cloud platforms: PCF, AWS

• Front-end experience with React.js

• Monitoring tools like Splunk and Dynatrace

Testing frameworks: 

• Cucumber, Spock, ATDD/BDD

• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.

• High motivation and curiosity with a willingness to take initiative and learn.
