Staff Selection Commission (SSC) invites online applications for recruitment to the posts of Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff (MTS) and Havaldar (CBIC & CBN) for various departments under the Government of India. This is an excellent opportunity for 10th pass candidates seeking central government jobs. The recruitment process includes a Computer-Based Test and, for Havaldar posts, a Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/Physical Standard Test (PST).

Vacancy Details

• Havaldar in CBIC & CBN: 1075 tentative vacancies

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality:

The candidate must be: A citizen of India or A subject of Nepal/Bhutan or  A person of Indian origin who has migrated from certain countries with the intention of permanently settling in India (eligibility certificate required).

Educational Qualification (As on 01 August 2025):

Must have passed 10th/Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized board.

Age Limit (As on 01 August 2025):

MTS: 18–25 years (born between 02.08.2000 and 01.08.2007)

Havaldar and some MTS posts: 18–27 years (born between 02.08.1998 and 01.08.2007)

Age Relaxation:

• SC/ST: 5 years

• OBC: 3 years

• PwBD (UR): 10 years

• Ex-Servicemen: 3 years after deduction of military service

• Other categories: As per government norms

Reservation

Reservation is available for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, Ex-Servicemen (ESM), and PwBD candidates as per government rules. Candidates must ensure proper certification at the time of document verification.

Application Process

• Mode: Online only

• One-Time Registration (OTR): Mandatory on the new SSC website (old SSC.nic.in credentials won’t work).

• Aadhaar-Based Authentication: Recommended but not mandatory.

Application Fee:

• General/OBC/EWS: ₹100

• SC/ST/PwBD/ESM/Women: Exempted

• Mode of Payment: Online – UPI, Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card

PET & PST

Computer-Based Examination Pattern (for both posts):

✅ Session-I: (No negative marking)

• Numerical and Mathematical Ability – 20 Questions, 60 Marks

• Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving – 20 Questions, 60 Marks

✅ Session-II: (1 mark negative marking per wrong answer)

• General Awareness – 25 Questions, 75 Marks

• English Language and Comprehension – 25 Questions, 75 Marks

Duration: 45 minutes per session (60 minutes for PwBD candidates)

PET/PST for Havaldar

PET (Physical Efficiency Test):

Male: 1600 meters in 15 minutes

Female: 1 km in 20 minutes

PST (Physical Standard Test):

• Male Height: 157.5 cm (Relaxable)

• Chest: 81 cm (with 5 cm expansion)

• Female Height: 152 cm (Relaxable)

• Weight: 48 kg (Relaxable)

PwBD candidates may be exempted from PET/PST, depending on disability type and medical certification.

Exam Centres

Candidates can choose up to three exam centres in order of preference. SSC has centres across all regions of India. No change in exam centre will be entertained after application submission.

• Category/Reservation Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS)

• Disability Certificate (if applicable)

• Ex-Servicemen documents (if applicable)

• Aadhaar (if opted)

• ID proof (Voter ID, Passport, etc.)

• Two passport-size photographs

General Instructions

• Applications with incorrect information or blurred photos/signatures will be rejected (unless Aadhaar-authenticated).

• Use of a scribe is permitted for eligible PwBD candidates with prior registration and approval.

• Candidates are advised to apply early and verify all entries before final submission.
