About the Role :

As a Software Engineer within Apple’s IS&T team, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining back-end infrastructure for enterprise systems. You will collaborate with teams across the globe to design and implement secure, robust, and scalable software solutions that support Apple’s internal tools and processes.

• You’ll have a direct impact on critical systems by:

• Developing core backend components and enterprise APIs

• Participating in architectural design discussions and technology evaluations

• Influencing long-term technical strategy for global infrastructure

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve business problems

Key Responsibilities :

Your time in this role will be split into three major areas:

•70% Engineering

Design, develop, test, and deploy backend services and systems

Drive adoption of best practices in software engineering, architecture, and automation

Develop clean, maintainable, and well-documented code

Contribute to enterprise-level system integrations and workflows

• 15% Operations

Support deployed systems through proactive monitoring and alerting

Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) and support teams to resolve incidents

Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and system errors

• 15% Process Improvement

Champion continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines

Lead code reviews and mentor junior engineers

Propose and implement improvements in engineering processes, tooling, and documentation

 Your Day-to-Day Will Involve:

• Making design decisions that prioritize long-term maintainability and scalability

• Writing high-quality, production-ready code

• Implementing unit and integration tests to ensure software reliability

• Presenting technical solutions and roadmaps to stakeholders at multiple levels

• Participating in sprint planning, retrospectives, and cross-team reviews

• Working across time zones with globally distributed teams

Minimum Qualifications :

To succeed in this role, you should have the following:

• Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

(Or equivalent practical experience)

• Experience:

Minimum 4 years of hands-on software development experience

• Programming Expertise:

Strong coding skills in at least one modern programming language, such as:

Python

Java

Go

C++

• Core Technical Proficiency:

Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, TLS, and authentication protocols

Deep knowledge of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems

Solid grasp of software design principles and system architecture patterns

• Engineering Best Practices:

Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment processes

• Familiarity with DevOps practices and infrastructure-as-code concepts

• Understanding of monitoring, logging, and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.)

Knowledge of security best practices and secure coding principles

Hands-on experience working with Kubernetes or similar orchestration technologies

Preferred Qualifications :

 While not mandatory, the following qualifications will give you an edge:

• Advanced experience in CI/CD implementation and orchestration (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.)

• Proven ability to debug distributed systems and build for performance

• Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments

• Experience with cloud-native development, containerization (Docker), and microservices

• Strong presentation and communication skills, especially when explaining complex technical issues to business stakeholders
