As a SA/VLM (Speech Annotation/Visual Language Modeling) Associate, you will work behind the scenes to enhance machine learning models by generating high-quality written content, annotating audio and video files, and ensuring the output is accurate, meaningful, and aligned with customer expectations.
This role offers a great blend of language skills, technical acumen, and creativity, allowing you to play a pivotal role in how smart devices interact with customers worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform simple to moderately complex annotation tasks on audio, image, or video files using internal tools provided by the Amazon team.
• Create clear, concise, and informative written content for videos/images that aligns with predefined guidelines.
• Ensure high internal quality by carrying out quality audits and verifications regularly.
• Meet daily productivity and quality targets while managing time and multiple tasks efficiently.
• Track and report daily progress using Amazon-recommended tools.
• Share queries or blockers related to annotation/data collection with stakeholders to help streamline processes.
• Participate in data collection activities, especially when scripts and detailed instructions are provided.
• Apply strong grammatical and linguistic knowledge to improve text output accuracy and readability.
• Help test new SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and Machine Learning data tools for better process refinement.
• Offer timely and specific feedback to improve annotation guidelines and SOPs.
• Provide remedial guidance or training on internal tools and annotation standards when needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
🎓 Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (English, Journalism, Linguistics, or related fields preferred).
✅ Fluency in English – speaking, writing, and reading is a must.
💻 Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, and Firefox.
🔁 Willingness to perform repetitive annotation tasks with high focus and accuracy.
⚡ High energy level, proactive mindset, and strong sense of ownership and accountability.
🧠 Analytical thinker with an ability to understand data and apply improvements accordingly.
🕵️ Attention to detail with the capability to detect errors and inconsistencies.

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Linguistics, or a related field.
• Exposure to US culture or prior experience in multicultural communication is a big plus.
• Certification in fields like Content Writing, Creative Writing, English Literature, Linguistics, or Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL).
• Prior experience (2–4 years) in data annotation, content generation, or linguistic-based roles will offer a competitive edge.
